Alice Unkel

Alice M. "Peggy" Unkel, age 91, was received into heaven on Friday, June 17, 2016. Peggy was born in Hornick, Iowa, January 6, 1925 to Albert and Annie Green. She married Robert E. Unkel May 24, 1941, and remained so for 56 years. They moved to Derby, Kansas in 1957 and she was employed by USD 260 for 28 years. She will be remembered as an active volunteer in Derby her adult life, and an avid fan for the Wichita State Shockers and Derby High Athletic Programs. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Robin Lee and grandsons, Bobby and Josh. She is survived by her sons, Gary, Daryl (Fifi), Randy (Billie), Kevin (Connie), Jonn (Diana), Curtis (Barbara); daughters, Jaynice (Leo) Pyle, Pamela Warren; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren. Visitation 1-8pm Monday, June 20, family greeting 5-7pm at Smith Mortuary-Derby. Funeral 2pm Tuesday, at Woodlawn United Methodist Church, 431 S Woodlawn Blvd in Derby. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is established with the Derby Senior Center, 611 N Mulberry Rd #100, Derby, KS 67037.
