Alice Elaine Hall

Alice Elaine Hall, born on January 16, 1924 in the Methodist Parsonage at Barnard, Missouri, Elaine was the youngest of eight children born to Rev. Alvah D. & Minnie Huff. As the daughter of a minister, she attended many different schools in Northeast and Northwest Missouri, graduating from High School in 1941 at Mound City. Elaine attended Northeast Missouri State Teacher’s College at Kirksville, Missouri and taught in one-room country schools loving every minute of it, even building the fires in the cold Missouri winters. She taught at Prospect Grove School in Granger and at Mayflower school in Oregon before meeting her husband of 56 years, Richard M. Hall, in Mound City, Missouri. They were married June 5, 1945 and had two sons - Richard M. Hall Jr. (Elaine) of Denver, Colorado and Randall D. Hall (Kim) of Wichita; three grandchildren, Andi Michelle, Abby Nicole and Adam Daniel, and four great grandchildren. After moving to Wichita in 1951, Elaine was Bookkeeper for thirteen years with the Haysville Elevator & Supply and for twenty-four years with Blood Orchards until her retirement in 2005. She became a member of the Haysville United Methodist Church in 1956 and remained so until her death. She enjoyed being the daughter of a preacher, always moving to new places and making new friends. Those who knew her well witnessed her great love of family and animals, particularly her cats…. they were a big part of her family too. Proceeded in death by her husband Richard M Hall, her father and mother, Rev. A. D. Huff and Minnie Huff, five brothers and two sisters. Funeral service 10 a.m. Monday, at Haysville United Methodist Church. Interment to follow in Oregon, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Haysville United Methodist Church, the Haysville Library, or the American Red Cross Meals on Wheels program.
