Lawless, Alford Henry “Hank”, was born on September 1, 1931 to Jewell Lawless and Mae (Siever) Lawless. He went to Mt. Zion School and helped his father farm until going into the Army in October 1952. He served in Korea in the 179th Infantry Regiment 45 Division. He was a Staff Sargent and was on Bloody Ridge and Heartbreak Ridge. He received 2 bronze battle stars, the combat infantry badge and the good conduct badge.
He married Vaunda Lee Bridwell Lawless on March 13, 1953. To this union four children were born, Chris Alan, Clint Shannon, Kendrea Sue and Corey Shawn. Hank is also survived by 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He worked at Coleman, Beech, and Boeing before moving to Commanche County where he worked on the Gregg Ranch for 27 years. He then moved back to the Lawless home place I 1987.
He drove the school bus for Belle Plaine for several years before helping his cousin Elden farm full time.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; one sister, Mona; two brothers, Paul and Carl; and son-in-law, Ron Crane.
Visitation: 5:00 – 7:00 pm Friday, September 10, 2021 at Smith Family Mortuary in Belle Plaine. Funeral service: 10:30 am Saturday, September 11, 2021 at First Baptist Church, 612 N. Linden Street, Belle Plaine, Kansas 67013. Interment will take place at Belle Plaine Cemetery.
