Adele Colleen Pulliam

June 3, 1936 — February 25, 2025

Adele Colleen Pulliam (Bernstorf), 87, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Phil Pulliam; her daughter, Karen Puetz; and one great-grandchild. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Chris) McGinnis of New York City, and her son, Mark (Nicole) Pulliam of Wichita. Adele was a cherished grandmother to 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Born in Lyons, KS, to Wesley and Mildred Bernstorf, Adele grew up on the family farm in Chase, KS, where she met Phil, the love of her life, in grade school. They shared 61 wonderful years of marriage. She began her college journey at McPherson and later earned her degree in education from Wichita State University. Throughout her life, Adele embraced various roles—teacher, homemaker, and salesperson. After retirement, she and Phil found joy in traveling across the country in their RV and spending winters in South Texas.

Adele had a special gift for working with textiles, creating everything from Phil’s signature suits to beautiful quilts and intricate crafts. Her talents as a seamstress were widely admired and brought joy to her family and friends.

Above all, Adele was a devoted mother and grandmother. She never missed a recital, track meet, or Scout event. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and welcomed visits from extended family with open arms.

Her legacy of love, creativity, and unwavering support will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Good Shepherd Hospice would be deeply appreciated. Donate Here
