Ada Gertrude (Nugen) Hervey was born at home July 31, 1931, in Harmon Township in Sumner County, Kansas, and passed away on September 30, 2013 at her home of 47 years in Palestine Township. She was preceded in death by her parents James Albert Nugen and Mary Beatrice (Hunt) Nugen, her six brothers Dean, Charles, Harold, Junior, Ray and Roy. She is survived by her husband Kenneth D. Hervey, of 62 years, her four sons and three daughters-in-law: Alan D. Hervey of Belle Plaine; Kerry L. and Shelia (Smith) Hervey, of South Haven; Ray L. and Tina (Terry) Hervey, of Roy, Washington; James H. and Tracy (Slaughter) Hervey, of Belle Plaine; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren, and her sister Anna Belle (Nugen) Skinner, of Hugoton, Kansas. After she married Kenneth on November 4, 1950, she worked das a bank teller, helped manage the Belle Plaine Theater, worked wither husband and sons on the family farm, and worked at the one thing she truly loved – home-making. Visitation 1-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, at Hatfield-Smith Funeral Home. Graveside service 10 a.m. Thursday, at Belle Plaine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Belle Plaine High School Alumni Association, 1413 E. 80th Ave. N., Belle Plaine, KS 67013.
