Forrest "Butch" Anthony Thompson was born on May 4, 1945, in Moran, Kansas, and passed away on August 25, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas, surrounded by his family. He graduated from Kincaid High School in 1963 and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1972.
He is survived by his wife, Twila Ketterman; sons, Dan (Lindsey) Creekmore and Anthony (Amanda Cooper) Creekmore; daughters, Jana (Mike) Arredondo and Whitney (Shawn) Vernia; chosen daughter, Jessi (Josh) Brown; 19 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Wayman (Grace) Thompson and Bryan Thompson; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nephews and great-nieces, his mother-in-law, Wauneta Ketterman, and sister-in-law, Robbin Ketterman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Jean Thompson; sisters, Edith Correa and Carol Hunsperger; brother-in-law, Terry Ketterman; and father-in-law, Ed Ketterman.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby, KS. Funeral services will be Friday, August 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Douglass Church of Christ, 201 W. 1st St., Douglass, KS. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery in Douglass, KS.
