Mill, Virgil Lee 70, passed away Friday, March 18th, 2022. He was born September 20th, 1951 to John "Gene" Mill and Neoma (Horton) Green in Girard, KS. After graduating from Pittsburg High School, Virgil joined the Navy Feb 1970 and finished in Jan 1976. He served his duties on a submarine including in the Vietnam arena. He began working at Cessna in 1978 where he formed his goal to be an Electrical Engineer. He obtained his masters in 1992 and was still working in that capacity at the time of his death. While working, he obtained his dual FAA certifications, expanding his skillset. As proud as he was of his service and career, nothing was more important to Virgil than his family. He suffered the death of his daughter Sarah but had the joy of raising his granddaughter Adi. In the next few years he added grandsons Cooper and Colby. When he lost his wife Tisha, who was buried on their 38th anniversary, he welcomed his third grandson, Caden who was born during Tisha’s final illness. Virgil loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, fishing, hunting and traveling with frequent trips to Branson.
In recent years he was able to spend more time fishing with the grandkids and going on family trips.He was preceded in death by his his parents, wife: Letitia "Tisha" Mill, daughter: Sarah Mill, Sister: Linda Miller, Brothers: Randy Mill & Tommy Green. Virgil is survived by his Son: Christopher (Chloe) Mill of Derby, grandchildren: Adilynne Mill of Wichita, Cooper, Colby, and Caden Mill of Derby, Sisters: Kay (Rick) Goodwin, Connie (Alan) Wegert, Debra Everitt and Tammy Elam, brother: Phillip Green, numerous nieces, nephews other relatives & friends
Visitation: Sunday, March 27th, 2022, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Smith Family Mortuary 1415 North Rock Road Derby, Kansas 67037. Funeral Service: 10:00 am, Monday, March 28th, 2022 at Wichita Seventh Day Adventist Church South 820 W 27th St S. Wichita, Kansas 67217. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Derby.
