Sheryl Ann Nelson, Cooper, Chapman
Derby Kansas Sheryl Ann Chapman passed from this life to the next on August 21, 2022. Sheryl was born March 6, 1949, in Parson Kansas to Robert L. and Mary Patricia Nelson. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Les Cooper and grandson Vinny Valdez.
She is survived by her husband Darrell W. Chapman Derby Ks, brothers Robert and (Diane) Nelson Kerwin TX, Phillip and (Brenda) Nelson Goddard Ks, Patrick and (Barbara) Nelson Tyler TX, David and (Eileen) Nelson Schuilte Ks, sisters Patricia Suddock Clonmel Ks, Peggy and (Roger) Horn Botheli Wa and Arcadia Ks, Janet and (Mike) Cigainero Chanute Ks, Sons Thomas and (Michelle) Cooper Derby Ks, Nicolas Cooper Wichita Ks, Darrin and (Renee) Chapman Belaire Ks and Joshua Chapman Wichita Ks, Daughter Kristia and (Will) Kastens Derby Ks and 18 grandkids and 17 great grandkids also many nephews and niece.
Sheryl Graduate from Wichita South High School in 1967. She also graduated from Wichita State University with a Bachelor’s in Social Work in 1991 and University of Kansas with a Master’s in Social Work in 2001.
She first started working at Home Start program as a case manager in Pittsburg Ks 1973-1975 then moved on as a copyright for Words and Pictures in Pittsburg, KS 1984-1987, the State of Kansas SRS in child protection 1987-1999, Family Consultation Service as a Therapist 1999-2007, Wichita State University as an Instructor 2007-2017, Private Practice at Emotional wellness as a therapist 2019-2021 and as Field Manager for Children First 2019-2021.
Sherry always loved large family gatherings, going on road trips, going to the fair, going to Chicken Annie’s or just out to eat, but whatever she did she loved people.
Visitation will be held at 6:00 pm with the rosary held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 24, at St. Mary Catholic Church.
Mass will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, August 25, at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery.
