Obituary

Obituary for Ronald Lee Woods

Ronald Lee Woods, age 59, Spirit employee, passed away Saturday December 7, 2019. Visitation 1-8 pm Thursday December 12, 2019, with family receiving friends 5-7 pm, Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. Graveside service 2 pm Friday, December 13, Elk Falls Cemetery. After a two and a half year battle with cancer Ron left this world to be with the Lord. He will be missed greatly by many! He never met a person he could call a stranger; he could talk to anyone and make them feel heard and valued and that they were long lost friends. He was an avid sports fan with a particular love of basketball! He played for many years then moved on to coach his kids. His most recent love was watching his grandchildren play it, Or really anything!! He was so proud of his grandkids and would show them off to anyone who would listen! He was someone you could go to for advice and seemed to have some knowledge on just about anything! He was an incredible Dad who never really got mad. He was a loving son always there to lend a hand or eat. He was a loving brother and someone his siblings could rely on! He loved and adored his nieces and nephew always ready to give them a hard time; and loved their children the same. This world and those who knew Ron lost someone great! But he would tell us that we are fine and what good would it do to worry about all this, it wont change anything. He was loved by many and also loved so many! May God Bless those who read this. Ronnie is preceded in death by his father, Charles. Survivors include his son Kyle Woods; daughter, Kelsey Jarvis (Andrew); mother, Deanna Woods; brother, Randy Woods (Carol); sister, Melanie Herman (Dean); grandchildren, Addi, Brook, Grayson and Harper; nephew, Caleb Woods; nieces Colby Woods, Erica Morrow, Kristy Shirley and MacKenzie Herman. A memorial has been established with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

I wrap my arms around Ron's family in sympathy for your loss. As I read the obituary, the one thing that I remember is that he did always have a ready smile for anyone he was talking to. Till we meet again....
