Obituary for Rodney W. Rogers

Mulvane - Rogers, Rodney Wayne
76, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023. He was born June 15th, 1946, to Wayne E. Rogers and Charlotte L. Rogers (Linville) in El Reno, Oklahoma. He moved to Mulvane as a kid.

Rodney was a long-time semi-truck driver. He retired in 2015 from Gooch Trucking. He also worked for M. Bruenger for almost 25 years. He graduated from Mulvane High School class of ’64. He then went into the Navy, was based in San Francisco, California. He served during the Vietnam war on the USS Sacramento from June of 64 to June of 67.

Rodney was a great son, brother, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, daughter and son-in-law every Sunday for weekly dinners and family time. Rodney was a great person and a good friend to all who knew him, he would do just about anything he could for anyone that needed it. Rodney used to love riding his Harley and spending time with friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Rodney is survived by his daughter, Erin (Justin) Dowell of Mulvane; brothers, Randy (Kathy) Rogers and Steve (Cindy) Rogers of Mulvane; grandchildren, Gabbriella, Zoey, Dixie, Jimmie; faithful companion, Sugar. 3 nephews and a niece and their families; a few good friends and a good church family.

Visitation: Monday, April 10th, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Smith Family Mortuary 1415 North Rock Road Derby, Kansas 67037. Funeral Service: 10:00 am, Tuesday, April 11th, 2023, at Living Word Christian Church 201 N. Derby Derby, Kansas 67037. Interment to follow at Council Hill Cemetery 1268 N. Seneca Rd. Peck, KS.
