54, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2022. She was born September 29, 1967 to Ignatius and Anna Mikolajczyk in Olean, New York.
Rita was the youngest child of a large catholic family. She was a loving wife and exceptional mother, who raised her children by example, guided by her faith. Rita was an active member of St. Mary’s Parish in Derby, KS where displayed her devotion by delivering Holy Communion to the homebound. In recent years, she enjoyed walks with her husband, reading, and visiting with friends.
Rita was employed by USD 260 where she served her community as a paraeducator and substitute teacher for 15 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents as well as brothers, Stephen and Raymond Mikolajczyk, and sister Valerie Accurso.
Rita is survived by her husband of 36 years, Brian; sons, Neil (Ashley) Metler, Timothy Metler, Andrew (Ashley) Metler, Anthony (Olivia) Metler; daughter, Sarah Metler; grandchildren, Lucas Metler, James Metler, Edison Metler, Paisley Metler; siblings, Lawrence, Richard, Patrick, Edward, Elena, Leonard, and Paul.
Visitation: Sunday August 14, 2022 from 2pm to 4pm at Smith Family Mortuary, Derby. Rosary: 10am Monday August 15, 2022. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30am Monday, August 15, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 2300 E. Meadowlark Derby, KS 67037. Interment to follow at St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Center of Kansas.
