Obituary for Ralph Matthew Krenzer

Ralph Matthew Krenzer, beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle, of Derby, KS passed away on January 23, 2022 at age 91. Ralph passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and children. Ralph was born in Susank, KS on September 18, 1930 to Matthew and Mary Krenzer. The Krenzer family moved to Olpe, KS in 1948 where Ralph met the love of his life, Betty Weinman. Ralph and Betty were married in 1950 and soon thereafter moved to Wichita, KS where Ralph worked with his father at the McConnell AFB Barber Shop. Ralph, an ardent country music fan and talented musician, was the leader of numerous country music bands in the Derby/Wichita area going by the stage name “Sammy Hart”. In
addition to being a skilled barber, Ralph sold cars and real estate. Ralph was the proud owner of a “Rickenbacker” guitar that was 1 of 6 made in that series/color. He recently donated the guitar where it is proudly on display at the Sedgwick County Memorial Museum in Wichita, KS. Ralph continued his barber shop at Krenzer’s Barbershop where he worked 3-4 days a week.

Ralph is survived by his beautiful wife Betty of 71 years; 12 children, Debbie Real (Gary); Dara Shumard
(Lynn); Denise Burrow (Kevin); Diana Sugg (Allen); Dana McSwain (Darrell) Dede Wagoner (Steve); Doug Krenzer (Alita); David Krenzer; Dori Welch (Robert); Dawn Henseler (Tracy) Dina Petersen; and Dani Rios (Robert). Also surviving Ralph are 38 grandchildren; 59 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents Matthew and Mary Krenzer and siblings Edna Riedel; Irma Jean Brown; Lucille Kerby; Alice Long and Lydia DeVarranes.

Rosary at 10:00 am followed by Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Derby on January 28.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial can be St Mary’s building fund.
