Obituary for Psych Lank

My father was born at home on the corner of Main Street and Kinkaid in Wichita Kansas. His father and mother ran a small farm that produced pickles. Psych was much younger than his older brothers Steart and Clarence. Psych attended Long Fellow Elementary School, Hamilton Junior High School and North High School in Wichita Kansas. He graduated from Wichita University with both a Bachelors and Master’s degree.

Psych married Monita Thorp on December 20, 1953, they were married for over 69 years before his death. My mother and father moved in with my father’s parents and worked on the house making his folks an apartment in the basement. They also connected two houses together to make a larger house. My mom and dad made their own furniture for the house with the help of their friend Merle Zimmerman.

He had four jobs in life. He worked as a roofer, Movie theater Usher, Tulsa Tech, and Boeing Company. The Height of Psych’s work career was at Cape Kennedy Florida working on the moon program. He worked on the lift arm for the Saturn rocket. In 1975 he left Boeing and became a House Husband. His wife had a job as a University Professor. Psych worked on their house, did the taxes, took Chinese cooking lessons, was on a bowling team, canned garden vegetables. He traveled around to see friends and new places.

On one trip back to Wichita he worked on the old house to sell it. He found an imprint of a cat in the cement and the word’s Psych loves foot foot his cat. He had made this at the home when he was just a child.
