Obituary for Phyllis J. Charvat

Phyllis Jean Charvat Theobald, Belle Plaine and Mulvane, Kansas Phyllis Jean Charvat former owner of Phyllis’ Beauty Shop and The Hospitality Shop died Tuesday April 26, 2022. Visitation will be held on Sunday May 1, 2022 from 2-5 PM at Smith Mortuary in Mulvane, Kansas. A Rosary will be held in her memory on Sunday May 1, 2022 at seven o’clock in the
evening and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday May 2, 2022 at ten o’clock in the morning, both at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Mulvane, Kansas. Interment will be at the Belle Plaine Cemetery in Belle Plaine, KS. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents Walter Baker and Eva Marie Baker, her step-mother Lucy Baker, her husband of 49 years and father of her children Donald A. Charvat, her husband Jack Theobald, her siblings Dorothy Fisher, Patricia Manaseri, Juanita Stroud, JW Baker and her granddaughter Brenee Smith. Phyllis was a successful business woman, a devout Catholic and a leader in her church community of St. Michael’s in Mulvane for more than 50 years. She was active in the St.
Michael’s Altar Society, the Cursillo movement and Marriage Encounter. Phyllis was a creative and talented artist who early in her life sketched, painted and created jewelry. She enjoyed reading, romantic movies, playing cards and spending time with her friends and family. Phyllis will be best remembered for her sharp mind, her delicious cooking, her generous heart and as a person who was always there for others. She is survived by her sister Eva Marie Garlick (Wichita), her children Daniel Charvat and his spouse Becky (Derby), Cody Charvat (Park City), Mylea Charvat (San Francisco, CA), Katherine Davis (Bonham, TX), seven grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.
