After a two-year battle with breast cancer, Patrice gained her angel wings on 1-Jan-2023. She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Maurer, and parents, Patricia and Edwin Kalousek. She is survived by husband Samuel G Maurer, daughter Stephanie and Ben Aber, Granddaughter Aelin Aber, sister Terrie Sumonja, brother Reed and Ellen Kalousek. Patrice was a teacher for over three decades and then studied to become a certified librarian. She mentored many students, co-workers, and family members, and touched several lives over the years. She loved keeping up with people through the internet, shopping for her “Dream Home,” and giving gifts to those she loved. The viewing will be held at Culbertson-Smith Funeral home 6-8pm Thursday 5-Jan-2023. Funeral service to be held at Ascension Lutheran Church Tyler Campus 842 N Tyler, 10:30am Friday 6-Jan-2023. Viewing will be at Porter’s Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave, Kansas City Kansas 9-10am Saturday 7-Jan-2023. Following this viewing will be a Chapel service 10:00am at the Porter’s Chapel. Depending upon weather the family will process to the grave site.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to either the Breast Cancer Research Foundation or the Christopher Maurer Memorial Fund for Maize Band Leadership.
