Myron Edward Schwartz, age 95, of Derby, retired insurance and automotive manual salesman, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021. Visitation 1-8 pm Monday, February 8, Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd, Derby. Funeral service 2 pm Tuesday, February 9, First Presbyterian Church, 324 N. Baltimore. Derby. Myron was born August 22, 1925 in Wichita, to Walter Asbury and Anna Mary (Weston) Schwartz. He was raised in Derby, graduating in 1943. After working in Wichita for a while he married Helen Irene Conrad on June 9, 1946, in Derby. They had one son, Gary and later they moved to Fall River, where Myron worked as a ranch hand and eventually got his own ranch where the family resided a few years. He then was hired by Mutual of Omaha and moved to Winfield and sold health and life insurance for 20 years. His salesman skills got him a job with Mitchell Manual selling automotive parts books over the entire state except for Kansas City and the northeast corner of the state. He and Helen divorced in 1960 and on December 18, 1965, he took as his wife, Doris Katherine McGee Morley. They resided in Winfield for several years. Myron always had a camper or motor home and Doris would join him as he traveled the state, staying in campgrounds as he sold his books in the surrounding towns. He was the #1 salesman many times and won trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Cancun Mexico and Europe. They ended up back in Derby and Myron retired after 13 years with Mitchell. He was baptized as a child in the First Presbyterian Church, so you might say he was a life-long member. Also a long time enthusiast of the Derby Senior Center, he was known by everyone as the exercise leader and joke teller for years. As the elder statesman of the domino and “13” card game table, he loved visiting and playing games with his many friends. Myron was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harold and Jerry; infant son Gerald; son, JR Morley. He is survived by his wife, Doris; sister, Evelyn Kersting; son, Gary (Kerri); daughter, Judy Holroyd (Dale); daughter-in-law, Susie Morley; 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
