Rose Hill - Smith, Mary Helen (Hyde)
94, died Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at her home in Rose Hill. Visitation will be 5-7 pm, Friday August 14, 2020 at Smith Family Mortuary, Derby. Services will be held at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 10 am. Mary was born September 29, 1925 in Brownington, MO, the daughter of Robert and Cora Hyde. Ms. Smith lived in Germany for a few years and then moved back to Kansas where she made her home in Wichita for years. She worked for Beech Aircraft for approximately 10 years as a tool crib worker. She also worked as a waitress and at a laundry mat. Mary, known as “Nanny” to all of her family, loved to dance, go on car rides, watch scary movies, and eat hot sauce. Survivors include one daughter, Connie Dies, of Rose Hill; four grandchildren, Richard Dies, Timothy Dies, Michelle Springer, all of Rose Hill and Donovan Dies of Ponca City, OK; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. A memorial has been established in her name to Providence Hospice, 9415 E. Harry St., #703, Wichita, KS 67207.
