Obituary for Marvin Gerald Sisk

Marvin G. Sisk passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022, after a brief illness. He was born in 1940 in Oklahoma to Hoyle and Lillian Sisk. He graduated from Harper, KS High School in 1958. Following high school, he attended Oklahoma Christian University. There he met his wife of 60 years, Sandra Michael Sisk. They were married in 1961. Soon after he began teaching in Edmond, Oklahoma then in Holly, Colorado. His two daughters Sydney and Dana were born in Lamar, Colorado. After he received his Master’s Degree in School Administration he accepted the position of Principal in Douglass, KS. After four years he became the Superintendent of Schools and remained there for twenty-nine years until his retirement in 1997. He loved being with his family and many outdoor activities.

He is survived by his wife Sandra, his two daughters Sydney (David) Zaldivar, Dana (Jeff) Houser, and Grandchildren Tyler (Victoria) Houser, Taren (Reece) Zogelmann, Daylen (Aureline) Zaldivar, Connor (Karli) Zaldivar, and great-grandson Brody Houser and one on the way. He is preceded in death by his son James Sisk, parents Hoyle and Lillian Sisk.

A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, February 10, at 1:00 pm at the Douglass Church of Christ, 201 West 1st St., Douglass, KS 67039.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Douglass Church of Christ for the Marvin Sisk Memorial Educational Scholarship that will be established at Douglass High School, or to Carpenter Place, 1501 N. Meridian Ave., Wichita, KS 67203.
