Obituary for Martha P. Mwangi

Martha Patricia Mwangi “Marty”, passed away on November 2, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital invWichita, Kansas. After 49 beautiful years and fighting Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphomav(DLBCL) for 442 days, she decided to go home to our Lord.

Martha was born on May 21, 1974 to Tony and Roberta (Reynolds) Ezettie in Wellington,vKansas. She has an older sister, Cheryl, who spent their childhood surrounded by aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Martha married the love of her life, Nicholas Mwangi on July 15, 2000. Together they brought two beautiful children into the world, Lucy and Loyd. Her biggest passion in life was her family. You would always find her supporting her husband and children at all of their activities. Many days and night were spent at sporting events, school functions, and familyactivities that kept her busy and happy.

She spent a large part of her working life in the airline industry, Air Midwest, and the healthcare industry, Eye Associates of Wichita. At both jobs, she gave her 110% into her work and was always striving for more. Martha loved people. You could always find her going the extra mile to support anyone and everyone in her life. From the time she was diagnosed with DLBCL, Martha fought and she fought HARD. There was nothing more that she wanted than to be here with her family and friends Earth-side. Ultimately her body was tired and she was ready to go home. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Tony Ezettie and Roberta (Reynolds) Galliart. She is survived by her husband, Nick; daughter, Lucy; son, Loyd; sister, Cheryl (Ben); nephews, Dalton and Dillion.

Funeral services will be held at Smith Family Mortuaries (1415 N Rock Rd, Derby, KS, 67037) on Tuesday, November 14th at 10:00 am. Following the service, the Mwangi family will be having a small gathering at their home beginning at 5:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be made in Martha’s name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS).
