Obituary for Lawrence Kevin Miller

Lawrence “Kevin” Miller of Wichita, KS passed away unexpectedly on May 16th, 2022, at the age of 59. Kevin was born on March 8, 1963, in Dayton, Ohio. He was the youngest child born to Larry and Nancy Miller. Shortly after graduating as part of the Derby High School Class of 1981, Kevin joined the United States Air Force. Kevin proudly served his country and was honorably discharged. His time in the Air Force helped to not only shape his character, but also cultivated within him a love for aircraft. Kevin pursued a career in the aviation industry, spending over 20 years with Hawker Beechcraft, and almost 10 years at Spirit Aerosystems. Kevin was a skilled painter and spent many years painting for both Hawker and Spirit. Some of his most cherished friendships were fostered during his extensive career. When he wasn’t spending time with his family, Kevin loved to travel and had hopes of retiring near the mountains of Colorado. Those closest to him knew Kevin to be compassionate, hard-working, and family oriented. He will be deeply missed by his father and mother, Larry and Nancy Miller; his daughters, Rhiannon Miller (Amy) and Amanda Johnston-Plew (Alex); his spouse, Brigette Miller, step-children, Avery (John), Kaylee, and Trenton; his sister, Lisa Miller-Brown (Doug), nephews, Jesse Miller (Kerry), James Cooper (Gwen), his great nephew, Finn O’Neill-Miller; and his grandchildren, Failyn, Cody, Gabby, Gracelyn, and Emily. Kevin will be missed by countless extended family members, friends, and his beloved dogs, Finn, Annabelle, and Camden. Kevin is proceeded in death by grandparents Wallace and Lorene Miller, Lucille Carpenter-Grigsby and Orville Grigsby; uncles Weldon, Dick, Jack, Philmon, and Millard “Butch”; and aunts Mary Loise, and Gwen. Visitation with the family present will be from be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 19th and Funeral will be 2:00 pm Friday May 20th, both at Smith Mortuary in Derby, KS.
