Obituary for Larry F. Herndon
Derby - Herndon, Lawrence “Larry” F. 84, passed away Monday, February 20, 2023. He was born March 28, 1938 to Fred and Margurite Herndon in Detroit, Michigan.
Larry served his country in the Air Force for 20 years, provided maintenance for St. Joseph Hospital (Wichita, KS) for 19 years, and regularly helped his faith community and neighbors in whatever way he could including the Marion Muzzleloader Deer Hunt for People with Disabilities. His favorite pastime was fishing and hunting with friends. No catfish, goose, or duck stood a chance!
He was preceded in death by his daughters, Lori Hawkins, Linda Ashburn, Jill Koftan; brother, Henry Herndon; sister, Gail Beasley; great-grandson, Mason Shaw.
Larry is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia Herndon; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother; two sisters.
Visitation: Monday, February 27th, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm with Rosary following at 6pm, both at Smith Family Mortuary 1415 North Rock Road Derby, Kansas 67037. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 am, Tuesday, February 28th, 2023 at St. Mary Catholic Church 2300 E. Meadowlark Derby, KS 67037.
Interment to follow at El Paso Cemetery.
