Obituary for Larna "Hammer" Godsey

Larna A Godsey (Hammer), 74, of Wichita Kansas, passed away on February 17, 2024 after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer.

Larna was born on December 26, 1949 to Max and Betty Naden in Arkansas City, and grew up in Ponca City, OK. After graduating from Ponca City High School, Larna married Dean Godsev and moved to Wichita Kansas and together they made their home; raising a family and pursuing careers at Boe... where Larna worked in Quality Assurance and Human Resources as a data analyst.

After retiring from Boeing in 1999, Larna enjoyed long motorcycle rides with her husband and friends as well as road trips across the United States. Larna was a talented quilt artist and spent many happy hours in her sewing room working on her beautiful creations. Her quilted gifts are treasures to the many friends and family throughout her life. Larna loved to garden and enjoyed time working outside, as well as canning and preserving the fruits of her labor. Her salsa was prize-worthy and rarely lasted long in the pantry. Larna took pleasure in the simple things in life: the company of friends, an ice cold beverage, a good hamburger, or an nostalgic black and white movie on the television late at night.

Larna most particularly loved her family and friends. There was always space for you at her dinner table. Your favorite beverage was aways cold, and she was ready at the door with a hug and a smile. Larna loved hosting parties and was the founder and organizer of 'Girls' Night Out' where she opened her home and welcomed her favorite ladies to a evening of fun. Thanksgiving and Christmas were her favorite holidays and she deeply cherished the large circle of friends that stopped by for a a bit of her holiday cheer. Larna's beautiful, infectious laugh will forever ring in the heavens.

Larna is proceeded in death by her father and mother, her sister Patty, her brother Billy, and son-in-law Steve. She is survived by Dean, her loving husband of 55 years, her daughter Tracy Lynn, her son Loren Tad, and her grandchildren, Raven and Drew.
