Obituary for June M. McGrath Karmon
It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we mourn the peaceful passing of June M. McGrath Karmon, with family by her side, on April 2, 2023 at the age of 86 years in Derby, Kansas.
June will always be lovingly remembered by her children, Kris Karmon of Danielson, CT, Cynthia Lively of Derby, KS and daughter-in-law Anne Karmon of East Providence, RI.
June was the daughter of the late Edward F. McGrath and Mary McGillivray McGrath. June was predeceased by her sister Dorothy McGrath Fielder, her brothers Edward (Bud) McGrath, William (Bill) McGrath, and sister Maureen (Hun) McGrath Gagnon.
June is survived by 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends.
Greeting June at heavens gate will be her beloved son, Robert D. Karmon II.
June was born in Providence, RI, grew up in the Oakland Beach area of Warwick, RI, and graduated from Samuel Gorton High School (55) where she was voted “Best Natured.”
Before retiring as a telephone operator at the VA Hospital of Providence, RI, our mom was a traveler to many parts of the world, while also being a devoted mother, with a contagious laugh, that would fill a room. She always had kind words of wisdom with a caring and generous heart, and was always there for family and friends. To have known June was to love “June-E-Babe”.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital as June so generously donated.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Rita’s Church, 722 Oakland Beach Avenue, Warwick, RI. on May 18, 2023 at 10:00AM, with a beach send off to follow.
