Wichita - Joshua Michael Zavala, 41, a lab technician for Valence Surface Technologies, passed away Saturday, November 16th, 2019. He was born June 17th, 1978 to Mary Simon Zavala and Max Zavala in Wichita, Kansas. He loved theater and music. You could often find him sitting on his porch playing the guitar and singing. He passed his love of music and theater to his talented son Britton. Josh enjoyed watching Britton performing. In his spare time you would find him kicking back and smoking a fat cigar or trying to catch a big fish. He was an advocate for Oxford House recovery homes, and was always eager to help anyone in need.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Florence Simon and George and Hortencia Zavala.
Joshua is survived by his Mother, Mary Zavala; son, Britton Zavala; father, Max Zavala; siblings, Melissa Zavala, Max Zavala, Jr., Rocky Zavala, Malory Zavala, Dylan Wittum; numerous other loving family and friends.
Visitation: Friday, November 22nd, 2019, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Smith Mortuary, 1415 North Rock Road, Derby, Kansas 67037. Family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral Service: 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 23rd, 2019 at Grace Revolution Church, 812 S Oliver St., Wichita, Kansas 67218. Interment will follow at Mulvane Cemetery.
