Obituary for John L. Wallace

John “Jack” Lavern Wallace, of Rose Hill, Kansas, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021. John was born on March 4, 1948 in Hot Springs, South Dakota, the youngest son of Everett Wallace and Inez Rust. John grew up on the family ranch near Ardmore, SD.
After graduating from Igloo High School, John hired on with the railroad in Edgemont, SD and worked as a conductor for 38 years. Shortly after high school, he met his future wife, Barbara Bouse and they were just shy of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing country music, golfing, leather and woodwork, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and sharing stories about growing up on the ranch.
John was preceded in death by his father Everett, mother Inez, and brother Bobby. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Rose Hill, KS; brother Jim (Pene) of Surprise, AZ, sister Judy of Hot Springs, SD, daughters Tara Ackerman (Ryan) of Cheyenne, WY and Jaime Raupe (Dustin) of Douglass, KS, granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Taylor, and grandsons, Jonathan and Ryder.
A memorial service will take place later this year. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to either the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
