Obituary for John M. Schmidt

John M. Schmidt, (80) entered the gates of Heaven on Monday, November 20, 2023, at home surrounded by his family in Wichita, Ks. He was born to Walter Emil Schmidt, Sr., and Natalie Lillian Neel Schmidt on April 2, 1943, in Houston, TX. He was proceeded in death by his parents, sister, Carolyn Moncivais, and grandchildren , Deven Marc Schmidt, and Sarah Faith Schmidt. He is survived by his brother, Walter Emil Schmidt, Jr., wife, Karen A. sons, Stephen O., Wichita, Paul E.(Monique), Severy, Christopher M.(Jill), Kansas City, daughter, Shyrelle D. Schmidt Weber (Jim), Wichita, , Grandchildren, Elexis Gutierrez, Chelsea Gutierrez, Brandon Schmidt (Chavè), Daniel Weber, Christopher Weber, Arianna Weber, and Emma Schmidt, step grandchildren , Lenae Kraus, Leslie Brown, and Donovan Jabara, Great grandchildren, Gabriella, Giovonni, Braylon, Christian, Samuel, Jr, Audrianna, Ezra, Serenity, Desirae, and Ella,, and many nieces and nephews.
Johnny moved with his mother to Haviland, Ks. After the tragic death of his father. There he attended Friends Haviland Academy, and went on to attend Friends Bible College , now named Barclay College. He met the love of his life at Camp Quaker Haven while he was working there, and they married a year and a half later on December 26, 1963, in Friendswood, TX.
Johnny was a part owner of CC & S Data Processors, Inc, then Johnny's Data Services, and he then worked at McClelland Sound until his retirement. After his retirement, he needed something else to keep him busy so he worked for First Student assisting special needs children to school.
Johnny loved music and was known for singing, humming, or whistling as he worked . He loved making up silly songs for the students on the bus or his grandchildren. He loved Jesus intentionally and was an active member of Northridge Friends Church. He loved serving and greeting and was instrumental in getting the commercial dishwasher installed in the kitchen for the dinners. He tried his best to make sure all his children, grandchildren, and his great grandchildren had a personal relationship with our Savior.
There will be a memorial service in his honor December 9, 2023, at 10:00am, at Northridge Friends Church. , 2655 N Bullinger, Wichita, Ks.. 67204.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established with Northridge Friends Church, and Barclay College, 607 Kingman, Haviland, Ks 67059.
