Obituary for John L. Cox

John Lewis Cox 81, retired Derby Post Master, passed away on July 18, 2022. John is survived by his wife of 63 years, Henrietta; daughter Angela Cox and son-in-law Stan Cox; granddaughters Peyton Tilma and Mackenzie Tilma; son Greg Cox and daughter-in-law PJ Fisher; sister Helen Ball and husband Lynn; and a number of nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Edna Cox, sisters Viola Whiteman and Billie Johnson and brothers James Cox and Carl Cox.

John was born November 30, 1940 in Wichita, Kansas. He married Henrietta May Dewbre on June 6, 1959. John started his career as postal carrier and advanced through promotions and job assignments at several postal offices, including Mulvane and Arkansas city before retiring as the Post Master in Derby. John loved to stay busy. Through-out his life he enjoyed time with his family, watching WSU basketball and engaging in many activities; including golf, tennis, pickle ball, bowling, horse shoes, playing the dobro guitar and traveling. One of the travel highlights for John and Henri was crossing the Atlantic on the Concord to spend time in London, Paris and Belgium.
