Obituary for Jim Wells

Derby - Jim Wells, 78, retired Sears Assistant Store Manager and WSU Bookstore, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022. He was born October 27, 1943 to Buck and Eleanor Wells in Ft. Smith, Arkansas.

Jim was a loving and devoted husband, dad, brother, grandpa, and friend. He loved to spend time with family/friends, traveling, helping with the church, specifically Cursillo and Knights of Columbus, and volunteering at Derby Hills and Spring Creek Elementary schools.

Jim was a huge sports fan, he loved the St. Louis Cardinals, Arkansas Razorbacks and Derby School sports specifically watching his grandkids play volleyball, softball, basketball, cross country, tennis and soccer.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife (Lene), and brother Bob.

Jim is survived by his son, David Wells, daughter Shelly (Mark) Haupt; grandchildren Morgan and Garrett Haupt, Alek sigman, Carli Palic, Makinley Wooden, and Jilien Potts; 3 great-grandchildren; Evie, James, and Josie Palic; sister, Kathy Sprouse.

Visitation: Sunday, June 19, 2022 from 3-5pm at Smith Family Mortuary (1415 N. Rock Road Derby, Kansas)
Rosary Service: Sunday, June 19, 2022, 6pm at St. Michael Catholic Church (525 E. Main, Mulvane, Kansas)
Funeral Mass: Monday, June 20, 2022, 10:30am at St. Michael Catholic Church (525 E. Main, Mulvane, Kansas)
