Obituary for James Wendall Siever

James “Jim” Siever passed away April 21st, 2023, at the age of 84 in Newton, KS.

Jim was born on November 26th, 1938, to Glenn and Luella Siever in Mulvane, KS. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School on May 23rd, 1957, where he met his future wife, Margo Olmsted. Jim married Margo on March 7th, 1959, and they had 4 children, Lynn, James II (Jimmy), Jerry and Kristi.

Jim started his working life at Merrill Ranch in Coldwater, KS handling cattle and horses before coming back home to work on the family farm in Oxford. Jim left the family farm to start work at The Coleman Company before leaving to begin his career at The Boeing Company in 1972. He spent 26 years of his life in management with Boeing, making many friends and memories before retiring in 1997. While working at Boeing, Jim married Lois Siever on December 16th, 1995, and adopted his youngest son, Eric Siever. Jim spent the rest of his days running his own lawn care business, playing with his grandkids and dogs, and spending time with his wife, Lois.

Everyone who worked with Jim at Boeing always had a story, as did the residents of Belle Plaine who had the pleasure of growing up with him or meeting him whilst being around town. With a lively personality, Jim always had a passion for things that went fast and had many vehicles that matched his personality. He regularly took his grandkids on rides on the back of his motorcycles, enjoyed fast cars and boats, Jeeps and John Deere anything. For many years Jim participated in the Rattlesnake hunt in Oklahoma. He was also an avid hunter and had a passion for firearms.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Luella Siever, sister Velda Parsons and Sister-in-Law Laura Lee Siever.

He is survived by his wife Lois, children Lynn (Steve) Dold, Jimmy (Lisa) Siever, Jerry Siever, Kristi (Steve) Wiseman, Eric (Amanda) Siever, brother Richard Siever, grandchildren Levi and Josh Smith, Jamie (James III) and Cody Siever, Courtney (Jordy) Dold Clark, Beckham, Berkleigh and Bancs Siever, Great Grandchildren Jaxon and Owen Siever, Harper and Kinsley Smith, his nieces and nephew, and numerous cousins.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, April 27th, 2023, from 5-7 PM at Hatfield-Smith Funeral Home in Belle Plaine.
