Obituary for Henry Linnebur

MULVANE – Henry Francis Linnebur, 62, passed away on December 23, 2019 in Mulvane. He was born on August 1, 1957 in Wichita, the son of Francis and Virginia (Weilert) Linnebur.

He grew up on the family farm near Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1975. He then attended Wichita State University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering. After graduating from WSU, Henry began working for Boeing in 1979, retiring in January 2019. On October 9, 1982, Henry married Alice Phillips in Valley Falls, and together they raised two children, Kayla and Kyle.

Henry enjoyed spending time outside, especially hunting and fishing. After his retirement, he also began playing golf. Henry also loved traveling, especially to visit and spend time with family.

Henry was a member of Knights of Columbus for 40 years, currently serving as the Grand Knight in Mulvane. He was also a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Mulvane.

Henry is survived by his wife, Alice Linnebur of Mulvane; daughter, Kayla Sullivan and husband Brad of Gurnee, Illinois; son, Kyle Linnebur and wife Taylor of Dodge City; grandson, Jase Sullivan; parents, Francis and Virginia Linnebur of Mulvane; siblings, Al Linnebur and wife Denise of Wichita, Ric Linnebur and wife Tracy of Van Alstyne, Texas, Jim Linnebur and wife Faith of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Cathy Phillips and husband Joe of El Dorado, and Tom Linnebur and wife Lisa of Sherman, Texas.

Funeral mass will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Mulvane on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at the Mulvane Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Smith Family Mortuary in Mulvane on Thursday, December 26, 2019 from 12:00 pm to 5:30 pm with a vigil to follow at the church at 7:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Knights of Columbus of St. Michael’s Church in Mulvane or to WSU Scholarship Fund for Engineering set up in his name, both in care of Smith Family Mortuary 501 SE Louis Blvd Mulvane, KS 67110.
