Obituary for Georgina T. Salander

Georgina T. Salander (Gonzalez) 79, of Mulvane, KS died on October 30, 2019. She was born October 9, 1940 in San Francisco, California to Eva Scopinich and Francisco Gonzalez. She married Duane Salander on October 31, 1956. She had 5 children, Maria Harvey (Mike), Curtis Salander, Sallie Bray (Roland), Sara Fritsch and Daniel Salander (Sheila). She had 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was a loving housewife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Georgina spent her time working as a full time homemaker and loving wife and mother.

She received her GED and went on to receive her certification and became a captain of the Mulvane Volunteer EMS and went on to get her CNA Certification and worked at Wesley Hospital on the Maternity Ward.

She volunteered whenever she could at her church, she was an exceptional cook, she delivered meals on wheels, she and her husband Duane were in charge of the Toys for Tots Campaign in St. Louis, Missouri by filling thousands of orders for needy children during Christmas. She was an exceptional seamstress and made stuffed toys and dolls and dolls clothes for Toys for Tots Campaign.

She was a great listener and prayed everyday for her children. She read a lot. She loved history. She was the smartest lady we knew.

She was a wife - Mother- Marine’s Lady “and a Tender Inspiration”

Visitation will be November 5, 2019 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at the Smith Mortuary in Mulvane, Kansas. A Celebration of Life will begin following the visitation at 11:00 am. She will be buried at the Veterans Cemetery in Winfield, Kansas.
