Obituary for Gene Dowell
Gene Raymond Dowell, 64, passed away December 26, 2020, in Wichita Kansas. He was born April 1, 1956 to Toney and Huleta Dowell in Iola, Kansas.
Visitation will be 1-8 with the family to receive friends from 5-8 Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Smith Mortuary, Derby. Funeral Service will be at noon Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at South Rock Christian Church, 900 S Rock Rd., Derby. Burial will follow at Clearwater Cemetery.
He worked many years at Cessna Aircraft, also worked for International Cold Storage and Coleman/Evcon. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing. He was a proud father, loving grandfather, beloved son, cherished brother, and best friend.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Toney and Huleta Dowell and baby brother Jimmie Dowell all of Wichita, Kansas.
He is survived by two daughters, Bryea R Simmonds (Brian Simmonds) of Wichita. Seven grandchildren, Christian Todd and Andrew Todd of Wichita, Kansas. Seven sisters, Rita Hawkins. Joyce Mikesell (Duane Mikesell), Patricia Brustrom, Theresa Dowell, Barbara Reents, Carolyn Goodson (Charles Goodson), Tonya Carver. Three brothers, Billy Dowell, Richard Dowell (Shiela Dowell), Mike Dowell (Patty Dowell). Numerous nieces and nephews, multiple Great nieces and nephews and even some Great Great nieces and nephews.
He will always be tremendously loved and missed.
