It is with extreme sadness to announce the peaceful passing of my father Gary A. Ralston. (My Pops) Hewas 79 years-young. He was born in Hutchinson, KS on January 22 1943. After graduating from Hutchinson High School he went to work at a local Dillions as a butcher. He then moved to Wichita, KS where he applied for and was accepted into the Wichita Police Department. He had some great stories, like the drug bust and shoot out in the East Kellogg K-Mart parking lot, the Holiday Inn downtown shooter and working on the BTK case in the early beginnings. While very dangerous he loved every minute of it for he built many long lasting relationships with his fellow officers. He then left the police department and he found his way to Boeing Aircraft in Wichita where he stayed until he retired. His favorite pass time was spending time hunting and fishing with his two Grandsons Landon Lamb, Jonathan Maugans and old friends. He also liked going on occasion to the casino's with his daughters he also liked meeting his old buddies for lunch. Everyone loved him, he had the biggest sense of humor and a heart of gold. There are no words to describe how much I and others will miss him Gary was the son of Harold Ralston and Freda (Lentz) Ralston, Brother to Richard Ralston and Carol (Boyle) Ralston he is survived by his wife Wanda (Shinkle) Ralston and two Daughters; Daughter Shelly Beckner (Ralston), Son-in Law Lee Beckner, Grandson Jonathan Maugans wife Ann Marie Maugans. Daughter Christi Wurtz (Ralston), son-in law Kevin Wurtz, Grandson Landon Lamb, Granddaughter Ashley Owen (Lamb) and Husband Kyle Owen, Step Daughter April Cotter (Glodfelty) and husband Scott Cotter and Ten Great Grandchildren! We will have a celebration of life service for Gary Ralston at the Candle Club 6135 E. 13th N. Wichita. KS on Saturday January 28th between 2 & 6 P.M.
