Obituary for Freida Lucille Bornhoft

Freida Bornhoft, 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 18, 2022.

Rosary and viewing at 10:00 am and Funeral Mass at 10:30 am, Saturday, August 27, 2022, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Andover Kansas.

Freida was born on September 16, 1940 in Prescott AZ, the daughter of Chelsey and Eva (Hicks) Fowler. She grew up in Bagdad AZ and moved to Yuma Arizona where she met the love of her life, Leonard, while working as a hairdresser. They were married in Fort Yuma AZ and later moved to Rose Hill in 1962 when Leonard was stationed at McConnell Air Force base where they enjoyed 61 years of marriage. Freida was a stay at home mom to Wanda, Tinea, and David and enjoyed attending their activities and later the Grandchildren's activities.
Freida was a member of the Rosary Altar Society at St. Vincent De Paul Church and a member of the Red Hat Society at the Rose Hill Senior Center.
Freida was preceded in death by her parents, Chelsey and Eva (Hicks) Fowler; sisters Ruby and Yvonne and brothers Chelcey, Jimmy, and Walter. She is survived by her husband Leonard Bornhoft; children, Wanda (Tim) Voss of Edmond Oklahoma, Tinea (Dick) Showalter of Rose Hill, and David of Andover Kansas; six grandchildren, Sawyer (Barbie) Voss, Nicole Showalter (Charlie Schneider), Emily (Blake) John, Abby Showalter, Ella (Chase) Moore, and Mackenzie Showalter (Alex Gustafson); five great grandchildren, Hunter and Heidi Voss and Barrett, Ellie Cate, and Nathan John; sisters Wanda Westerman, Pearl Liester and Betty (Jerry) Southers all of Shawnee OK, and brother Ernest (Carolyn) Fowler of El Reno, OK and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials have been established with St. Vincent de Paul Church, 123 N. Andover Rd, Andover, KS 67002, Providence Hospice 915 E. Harry St #703, Wichita, KS. 67207, and the Rose Hill Senior Center, 217 E. Silknitter St, Rose Hill, KS. 67133.
