Obituary for Frances Weatherson

Frances Gail (Clark) Weatherson, age 100, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2022. She was born in Wichita, KS on July 29, 1921. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Ruby Clark, one brother, Lawrence, sisters Helen Petersen, Marian Huey, Harriet Smith, and her husband of 70 years, Elbert (Bud) Weatherson. They were blessed with six wonderful children, David (Shari) Weatherson, Gail (Mark) Hartke, Terry (Mona) Weatherson, Nancy (Roy) Richardson, all of Wichita, and James (Ann) Weatherson of Nashville, TN, and Susan (Tim) Larrabee of Southlake, TX. She shared happy times with her six grandchildren and their spouses, including Dave (Susan) Weatherson, Wendy Weatherson, Heather (Jon) Clotfelter, Adam (Jessie) Hartke, Lauren (Andrew) Blum, and Cole (Katelyn) Weatherson. She was further blessed with seven great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters, and one great-great grandson. She graduated from North High School in 1939. A stay-at-home Mom during the years her children were growing, she was active in PTA, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.

Not one to ever shy away from a joke, often at her own expense, she loved to laugh, and you rarely entered her house without hearing music. Always a charitable person, she was known to never miss buying Girl Scout cookies, Boy Scout popcorn, and since a small child, put money in the big kettle at Christmas time. She enjoyed knitting, reading, playing Scrabble, and her dog, Rusty. Family was foremost in her life, and her own words she lived by were "I'm as happy as I need to be." Frances and Bud lived in many places and spent their last years back in Wichita where it all began. They lived in Irving, TX for 34 years, and while living there, she worked part time in the Irving School system for 11 years. She then worked as a Secretary for Associates in Surgery for 10 years, a job she loved as well as the people she worked with. She was also a volunteer at the Irving Hospital as a Pink Lady. In lieu of flowers, she would appreciate contributions be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692. You are welcome to attend her Memorial Service at Culbertson Mortuary on Saturday, April 23, at 2:00pm, and share your memories of this special lady.
