Obituary for Duane Alan Strain
Wichita - Duane Alan Strain 67, died on Wednesday, November 30th, 2022. He was born September 19, 1955 to Arthur and Mary Ruth (Reeves) in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was married to Cathy Jo Strain on June 26, 1976.
Duane and Cathy met while attending Manuel High School; after graduation, Duane attended Spartan College where he received his A & P license and pilot's license. Duane and Cathy moved to Wichita in the late 70's where Duane worked in aviation for 40+ years, 39 of them at Cessna. Duane loved Jesus, his family, the church, being very ornery and enjoyed every opportunity to play his guitar and spend time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy Strain, his son, Jedidiah Strain, and his father, Arthur Strain, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Michael and Norma Hittle.
Duane is survived by his sons: Jacob (Nicole) Strain, Andrew (Lindsay) Strain, Jonathan (Alina) Strain, Joel (Renae) Strain; his mother, Mary Ruth Strain; his sister, Donna (Greg) Bentle, his brother, David (Danna) Strain, many nieces and nephews, and his sixteen grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday Dec. 7, 2022 at Smith Family Mortuary 1415 North Rock Road Derby, Kansas 67037. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday Dec. 8, 2022 at the Central Christian Church at 2900 North Rock Road. Interment to follow at El Paso Cemetery at 700 East Kay, Derby, Kansas 67037.
