Obituary for Rochelle Leckliter

Wellington - Leckliter, Donna Rochelle

76, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022. She was born February 17, 1946 to Vern Leckliter and Donna (Hatfield) Leckliter in Wichita, Kansas.

She was a graduate of Winfield high school in 1964 and received her Bachelors in Teaching from Harding University, Searcy, AR in 1968. While in college, Rochelle went on campaigns for two separate summers. While in college, Rochelle was in many clubs such as African Club, Northwest Mission Club, Big Sisters, Les bonnes de Christe, Kappa-Phi, and Chorale. Rochelle took Greek just for personal Bible study. She also worked at We Care House for severely autistic children right after her college years. Rochelle started her Spiritual internship in September, 1978 at McKnight Church of Christ in Saint Louis, Missouri and completed in May 1979. In June 1979, Rochelle, along with many members of this missionary group moved to Hillsboro, OR. In August 1979, Rochelle, Bill and Kathy Adams, lifelong friends, along with other missionaries, started a church called Tualatin Valley Church of Christ. Rochelle acted as a vocational missionary for many years in the church. Rochelle taught elementary grade school in Memphis, TN and then in Hillsboro, OR in .She touched many children's lives and was loved by many of her coworkers and children's parents. In 2004 she moved to Haysville, Kansas to retire from teaching children but never did retire from teaching people the word of God. Rochelle witnessed to everyone with her kindness and care by investing in people's lives on a daily basis. Rochelle was a long-time member of Emporia Avenue Church of Christ and then later Northside Church of Christ. She was a counselor at Camp Wildwood along with her brother-in-law Randy Brewer in Arkansas in 1967.Rochelle had many skills including quilting and sewing. She loved to read books. Reading the Bible was a priority for her. She loved playing games, especially dominoes and backgammon. Rochelle loved cooking and was wonderful at it. Traveling was another hobby of hers as she had been to many places around the world.

She was preceded in death by her parents Vern and Donna Leckliter. She is survived by her daughter: Stacy Burleigh and her husband John; daughter: Jenna Grimstead and her husband Trevor; 9 grandchildren: Christian, Ayden, Silas, Daniel, Amelia, Rochelle, Hannah, Rihannah, Jonathan; Sister: Carol Brewer and her husband Randy; sister: Cheryl Russell and her husband William; sister: Jeanne Brown and her husband Cliff; brother: Chris Leckliter and his wife Linda and numerous nephews, niece, cousins, and friends.


Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 4th, 2022 at Northside Church of Christ , 4545 N Meridian Ave, Wichita, KS 67204 by Toby Levering. Burial survives will be at Belle Plaine Cemetery at 3pm that day. The family would like to express their thanks for the wonderful compassion and care given by the Nurses with Phoenix Hospice and the nurses and Staff at Wesley Medical Center.
