Obituary for Derek Evan Larson

Derek Evan Larson, age 24, passed away on Friday, January 8th, 2021. He was born June 4th, 1996 to Donald and Lavona (Ades) Larson in Wichita, Kansas. He graduated from Douglass High School in 2014. He also attended Butler Community College.
Derek was a happy, fun-loving guy who always made people laugh, sometimes being somewhat of a prankster. He loved fishing, hunting, four-wheelers, dirt bikes. He also had a horse, various collections over the years and made and forged his own knives. Derek loved his dogs and bar-b-quing.
Derek worked at Ameritrac Rail systems where he learned how to operate heavy equipment. Then he went on to work for the Eldorado Livestock Auction were he used his horse for work. After that, he went on to be a hot-shot truck driver making deliveries all over the United States. He was very proud of getting his class A driver's license. His current job was at Case New Holland manufacturing.
Derek is survived by his father, Donald, mother, Lavona, brother, Don, sister-in-law, Areal, sister, Charity Gibbons, brother-in-law, Chad Gibbons, and two nephews and four nieces.
Visitation:Friday, January 15, 2021, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Smith Family Mortuary Chapel 1415 N. Rock Rd. Derby, Kansas 67037. Funeral service:1:00 pm, Saturday, January 16, 2021 at The Church of Christ of Douglass 201 W. 1st St. Douglass, KS 67039 Interment to follow at Douglass Cemetery.
