Obituary for Della May Hatfield

Della May Hatfield, 73, of Wichita KS, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023.



Della May Hatfield was born April 10, 1950 to Victor and Melvina McLean in Wichita, KS.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, David Hatfield, her son, Jimmy Del, her parents, and other family members. She is survived by her daughters, Carol Lowe and husband, Scott, of Wichita, KS, and Christy Hatfield, of Wichita, KS, Wendi Gray & husband Mark of China Springs, TX, Mandi Patterson & husband Jeff of Yukon, OK, Brandi Hatfield & husband Sammy of Arkansas City, KS, her son, Loran Hatfield and wife, Melony, of Joplin, MO, grandchildren Judith Lowe, Scott Lowe, David and Levi Hatfield, and five great grandchildren.



Della gave many years of service to the Wichita School District as a bus aide before retiring to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoyed watching old western movies, particularly those starring John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. She also enjoyed traveling, mining history, crocheting, and spending time with family and friends.



Her greatest joys in life were watching her children grow, start families and have children and grandchildren of their own. She will be dearly missed, her smile and joy for life brought happiness to every room she stepped foot in.



Services are being handled by Culbertson-Smith Mortuary of Wichita, KS. Public viewing will be Sunday, April 30, 2023 from 6 to 8 PM at Culbertson-Smith Mortuary, with funeral services being held at the same location on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 11 AM, followed by a funeral procession and graveside services at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Goddard, KS. The address of the funeral home is 115 S Seneca, Wichita, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your local Humane Society in her honor.
