Obituary for Dale Eugene Ferrell

Ferrell, Dale Eugene, age 88, entered into his heavenly rest on March 4, 2021. He was born on May 7, 1932 in Logan County Oklahoma to Albert & Hattie (Rupe) Ferrell. Dale began working for K.G. & E. in 1961 and retired in 1990 as a relief operator. After retirement he worked as a part-time plant superintendent for the Neodesha, KS. Power & Light Company from 1999-2004.

Dale was a volunteer driver in the Transportation Dept. of the American Red Cross from 1991 to 2018. He graduated from Cashion, OK. High school in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. He was a member of the Quester’s class at the 1st Nazarene Church, Wichita, KS. And previously was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Wichita where he served as chairman of the trustee board for many years. His interest were gardening, sightseeing with the travel trailer, playing pool and going metal detecting. He also enjoyed mission trips to Haiti, where he helped build a church. He flew by helicopter to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, witnessing to the Indian tribe. In Mexico, he helped build a house. In Germany, he helped remodel a European Nazarene college and volunteered for several weeks at United Indian Missions in Glendale, AZ.
Dale is preceded in death by his Mother, Hattie, 2 brothers, Billy Joe (Bill) and Vernon (Shorty) Ferrell.

Visitation will be on March 11, 2021 from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m. at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock. Rd. Derby, KS. Memorial Service will be held at 1st Church of the Nazarene, 1400 E. Kellogg Dr., in a chapel on Friday, March 12, 2021, at 1 p.m. A Memorial has been established in his name with the American Red Cross 1900 E Douglas Ave. Wichita, KS 67201 and the Rivercross Hospice 251 S. Whittier St. Wichita, KS 67207 . Internment (graveside service) will be at White Chapel Cemetery, 1824 N. Oliver, Wichita, KS.
Survivors include: his wife, Shirley of 63 years, Daughter LaRita (Mark) Tillison, of Derby, KS.
Son Rodney (Wendy) Ferrell, of Aldershot, England, Nine Grandchildren; Chris (Britten) Theis, Wichita,KS., Jacob (Christina) Theis., Jana (Chris) Montgomery, Coeur-d-Alene, ID., Paul Theis, Overland Park, KS., Joshua Tillison, Derby, KS., Ryan (Alexis) Tillison, Yukon, OK., Evan Tillison, Oklahoma City, OK., Beth Ferrell, Wichita, KS., Alex Ferrell. and 4 Great-Grandsons, Wyatt and Heath Montgonery, Bryce and Briar Theis.
