Obituary for Charles L. Trapp

Charles L. Trapp, 71, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022, peacefully surrounded by family. Born April 10, 1951, in Ellsworth, Kansas, he was the son of Charles Otto and Gertrude Louise (Schultz) Trapp.

At age 19, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served our country for 24 years. While enlisted he met and married June Hucks on February 6, 1973. He retired from the Air Force in 1994 as a Master Sergeant. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Derby, Kansas serving on the Church Council and School Board.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Charles Otto and Gertrude Louise (Schultz) Trapp and his sister Charlene Hutchinson.
Charles is survived by his wife, June; sons Christopher (Connie), Timothy (Janea), Kevin (Portia); and four grandchildren, Ethan, Hailey, Mylie, and Noah. He is also survived by his brother Louis Trapp, sister Julia (Don) Waggoner, brother-in-law John Hutchinson, sister-in-law Barbara (Joe) Wright; along with nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Memorial Service will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Faith Lutheran Church, 214 S. Derby Ave., Derby, Kansas, with entombment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Missionaries, through Smith Mortuary.
