Obituary for Bill Goodson
Derby, Billy Joe “Bill” Goodson 92, died Sunday, April 2nd, 2023. He was born May 8th, 1930, the son of Stewart and Dorothy Goodson, in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Bill married Bonnie Lucas and they had 2 children, Wes Goodson and Gary Goodson. Dearing and Coffeyville were where they lived most of their lives. Bill was born in Coffeyville, KS and always called it home and always will. He lived in Columbia, MO for ten years and lived in Derby, KS his last 12 years. His fondest times were at the Little League Ballpark in Coffeyville where he coached his sons and then umpired later.
Bonnie and Bill bought a small farm near Dearing, KS and called it their ‘Heaven on Earth’. After a stroke they sold the farm and moved to Columbia, MO to be closer to his family. They then moved to Derby, KS to be close to his family. He enjoyed his time on the golf course as an avid golfer and playing golf with his cherished friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Goodson; mother, Dorothy Goodson; Father Stewart Goodson; son, Wes Goodson; and his beloved Wife Bonnie Goodson.
He is survived by his son, Gary Goodson of Derby; granddaughters, Shelly Oeding of Wichita, Katie McLaren of Wichita, Kyle Goodson of Columbia, MO, Chad Goodson of Austin, TX; and six great grandchildren.
