Obituary for Ashlie Tierra Kempf (Kempf)

Kempf, Ashlie Tierra, 22, passed away Sunday, March 5th, 2023. She was born September 14th, 2000, to Alayna Cobb, in Wichita, Kansas. On May 28, 2002, Robert Kempf and Alayna Cobb joined in marriage, beautifully blending their two families as one. On January 20th, 2004, with honor and love, Ashlie became a Kempf when Rob adopted her and made her his own.
Ashlie is a 2019 graduate of Derby High School, where she loved participating in school choir activities. Ashlie worked for several years as a CNA at both Wesley and Via Christi, as a behavioral health tech at KVC, and was currently working at Family Care Associates as a receptionist. Once her health became better, she was hoping to attend Newman University to obtain a degree in sonography.
Ashlie loved God with all her heart, and she loved others fiercely. Ashlie used every opportunity possible to pray, share about God, and share the gospel with the patients to whom she was assigned. We have such joy in the realization that God wrote her very name into the stories of each one of these patients’ lives. She had been specifically assigned to them for that very purpose…to share the hope and love of God. Despite all the trials, numerous surgeries, and medical problems she faced her entire life, she was the kindest, most compassionate loving soul a person could have known. It was such an honor to be her parents. God blessed us for sure.
Ashlie was preceded in death by her grandfather (Dr. Leslie H. Cobb) of Mulvane, Kansas and grandmother (Lynda M. Thomas) of Jeffersonville, Indiana.
Ashlie is survived by her parents (Robert and Alayna Kempf), sisters (Cameron Kempf and Kobie Kempf), niece (Everleigh Mount), nephews (Drew Mount and Zade Owens), grandmother (Gail Cobb), Grandfather (Darryl Kempf), loving boyfriend (John Muhl), along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends from school, work, church, and life groups.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 11th, 2023 at Christ Church, 14242 East 21st Street North, Wichita, Kansas 67230. Casual dress! Ashlie would prefer tie dye, messy buns, crocs, and or anything sunflower.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to one of the following charities that meant the world to Ashlie:
When Ashlie was young, she was treated by as a patient at the Shriner Hospital in St. Louis, MO. The local chapter has a transportation unit that drives families to the hospital from Wichita, or provides the families with funding if they choose to transport themselves. Ashlie’s boyfriend (John) (who was a Shrine child himself) recently became a Shriner. Ashlie was also in the process of becoming a Lady of the Oriental Shrine. Donations for this cause may be sent to Midian Shrine Plane of Mercy, 130 North Topeka Street, Wichita, Kansas 67202
Ashlie was born with a cleft lip and palate. In her short 22 years, she had 17 cleft related surgeries. Her plastic surgeon here in Wichita has a non-profit organization called the KanSmile Foundation. Children with craniofacial differences require multidisciplinary care, which is often poorly funded or unsupported by insurance companies and the state. This organization changes that for Kansas families.
