Obituary for Angela M. Allen

58, passed away Friday, February 11, 2022. She was born July 10, 1963 to Dan and Susan Carson in Hays, Kansas.

Angela and Ron met in 1983 and the first thing Ron noticed was how beautiful her smile was. They were the definition of true love for nearly 38 years. Together they built an amazing family that included three children and eight grandchildren. Angela and Ron enjoyed taking cruises with their friends; she was a lover of the ocean and the beach, and some would say she enjoyed a margarita occasionally. She also loved her dogs Pixie, Cali, and Avion.
As kids, Angela and her brothers and sisters spent summers at Lake Afton with their grandma and grandpa Carson. They visited their cousins and traveled with the Hefren grandparents for her grandpa’s work for Haliburton. Angela grew up in a family that loved board games and cards, anywhere from a mean game of spoons to a summer long canasta game. She was often titled the queen of nerts. And don’t even mention the game monopoly to her, all the Carson kids learned the family competitive spirit in playing that with her dad. A hard worker, she worked at Big Cheese and other food spots. She worked hard for her Charger and on occasion everyone would pile in her car and her sister Dana’s convertible to drag Douglas on a Saturday night. Angela followed in her mom’s footsteps in graduating from cosmetology school…and was often her family’s stylist of choice.
Her family was the most important thing to her by far. She loved all the Holidays, but Christmas was very special to her because she was able to see so many people that she cared about. She loved her Mom and Dad and would drive 2 hours to spend the evening with her family then drive back and spend the entire night wrapping presents and preparing food for Christmas morning. Looking back, she selflessly went without sleep every year to ensure her family experienced the joy of Christmas. She loved to organize girl’s night out with her daughter and two daughters-in-law that called her Mom. Wine events, Chicken N Pickle, and movie nights were some of her favorite times with her girls.
During her career, she worked at Avon and Spar, and owned a catering company with Trudi Mankins called Truly Amazing Catering. She had a passion for cooking, but it never felt like a job because she had her best friend by her side. In the last 6 months when she was unable to cook, she could be found watching the Food Network channel with some Hallmark sprinkled in between. She really enjoyed Guy Fieri, I’m not sure if she liked his cooking style or his frosted tips... Cooking food was something she deeply enjoyed, and it was a good fit because her family liked to eat!
Angela’s attitude was always to lead by example. Her entire family learned so much by how she acted and carried herself. She was a peacemaker and making sure everyone was treated fairly was something she excelled at. She was very involved in the community with the hospitality team at the Rose Hill Christian Church. Angela was selfless and always wanted to help others.
We knew from the start that it was an incurable cancer but that didn’t stop her from fighting and winning a few rounds in the battle. She was so strong, and her family and friends were all so exceptionally proud of her. Surrounded by her loving family and comforted by her faith, she passed with grace, dignity, and courage. Her support circle was solid as a rock. Her family wishes to thank everyone that helped her in any way the last 10 months. Angela was a bright light in all of our lives, and she will truly be missed.
