Obituary for Alberto Carro

Alberto Francisco Carro passed away May 17, 2022. Memorial Service will be held Monday June 6th at 1:00pm at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.
Alberto was born on July 18, 1953 in Cienfuegos, Cuba to Maria Del Pilar Jardines and Francisco Aurelio Carro y Vilches. Alberto was the second of their four sons, Aurelio, Antonio and Andrew. In Cuba their family story began building the foundation for their sons. Aurelio held a busy medical practice in Cienfuegos. The Cuban Revolution began and uprooted their lives. The Castro regime forced them out of their island home and they sought refuge in the United States. Aurelio, Maria and three sons made way to Miami, Florida then established a home in Winfield, Kansas in January 1962.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Alberto pursued a life in service in the medical arts. After graduating high school in Winfield, Kansas in 1971, he studied Medicine at the University of Kansas receiving a Medical Doctorate in 1979. He continued his training in residency at the Madigan Army Medical Center. During his residency he was married to his first wife and had two sons, Daniel Joseph Carro and Michael Paul Carro. He was Chief of Emergency Medicine for the United States Army troops based in Tacoma, Washington and Radcliff, Kentucky. The family moved to Kansas in 1985.
Alberto served as the Emergency Department Chief at St. Joseph’s Hospital from 1985 to 1996. After years of emergency medicine and many memorable events, Alberto launched a new path into family medicine practice. With his medical partners, they began what would be known as Cypress Family Medicine. His practice of family medicine would span two decades until he retired in 2019.
Alberto remarried in August 19, 1987 to the love of his life, Diana Lynn Cummings. They shared 34 years of marriage. Together they fostered many dogs and supported the Lifeline Animal Placement & Protection shelter. He leaves behind a legacy of service and an adoring wife.
He was preceded in death by his father Aurelio Carro and mother Maria Carro. The legacy of his life will be remembered by his loved ones: wife, Diana Carro; brothers, Aurelio Carro and wife Silvia, Antonio Carro and wife Sherry, Andrew Carro and wife Amy; sons, Daniel Carro and wife Shannon, and Michael Carro; granddaughters, Lillian Holmes and Amara Carro; nephew, Alexander Carro and wife Victoria; nieces, Julia Carro and Elizabeth Munds and husband Lucas.
Services will be held June 6th at 1 p.m. at Chapel Hill. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established for LAPP (Lifeline Animal Placement & Protection) 310 W. 45th St. North Wichita, KS 67204.
