Obituary for Adrienne Rowe Brickman

Cheney, Kansas - Adrienne Rowe Brickman and her son August Adam Brickman, of Cheney, Kansas were taken from us on Sunday, January 1, 2023, in a tragic motor vehicle collision.

Adrienne was born in Wichita, KS, August 9, 1982. From the moment of her birth, she was a force of nature. A rugged explorer; she delighted in studying insects, raising plants from seedlings, and nurturing animals. She grew to become an accomplished scholar, persevering through hardship to obtain three degrees at five colleges. Her curiosity about the relationship between life, science, and creation would guide Adrienne to her dream profession, education. She poured herself into her work at Exploration Place, Tanganeyka, The Cosmosphere, and Gordon Parks Academy, and ultimately, she earned a position teaching Honors Biology at Eisenhower High in Goddard, the same school district where she had graduated.

Adrienne loved her community. She poured everything she had into her lesson plans and students, and relished running the scoreboard for the school's soccer games. Ade was physical, a runner and lifelong athlete. She played collegiate soccer and was a climber of trees. She was also a gifted artist, creating portraits and paintings of everything she loved about her life and the people in it. She had an innate ability to make something from nothing; industrious and hearty. These many gifts, coupled with her natural warmth, enabled her to become one of the most present, devoted, and selfless mothers the world has known. Adrienne treasured motherhood, delivering at home, nursing them, and raising them with humor, creativity and light. She showed us all that love is not a feeling, it's something that you do; and that the act of love can heal your heart.

August Adam was born in Wichita, KS, November 9, 2021. Named after his adoring father, August was a strong, joyous, 10-pound rascal. From the moment his mother and father laid eyes on him, it was love. With his crop of white-blonde hair and cheek-to-cheek dimples, Augie could do no wrong. Once he learned to walk, he'd cautiously explore the world, practicing his handiwork on any staircase he could discover. He reveled in riding in his dad's hotrod, giggling when the wind blew through his hair. His dad built him a matching stroller because he loved it so much. August loved to be held, stroking his mother's hair and tickling his daddy's beard, he was an especially affectionate and playful soul. Whether he was sneaking handfuls of pretzels or playing catch with any round object he could find, he was a delight to all who had the privilege of holding him. The world is a better place because Augie was in it.

They leave behind their loving husband and father, Adam Brickman; August's siblings Clover, Piper, Jacob, Jillian; Grandparents Annette and Greg Neises, Charles and Sherie Shaver, Terry (dec.) and Elizabeth Brickman; Aunts Jessica, Sarah, Robyn, Olivia, Robin, Brandie, Merrie, Christina, Charlotte, Amy, Megan, Jennifer, Shellie, Diana; Uncles Codey, Calvin, Nick, Jon, Jesse, Heath, Mark, James, Tony, Keith, Jed, Alex, Nathen; and Cousins Ella, Isabella, Giselle, Lacy, Ben, Quincy, Cleo, Charlee, Judith, Jennifer, Ernestine, Margaret, Agnes, Maddox, Braeden, Jaxson, Jayce, Logan, Alex, Jeremiah, Jean, Kattie, Hannah, Cade, Kaylee, Trey, Brooke, Peyton, Kiya, Khloe, Kayden, Kara, Ethan, Caleb, Anna, Obi, David, Devon, Nolan, Lakin, and Cora.
