Obituary for Abel Padilla
Abel Philip Padilla, age 65, of Lyons, Kansas died Monday, May 29th, 2023 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born January 20th, 1958 to Merejildo and Mollie (Cruz) Padilla in Clayton, New Mexico.
Abel grew up in Ulysses, KS and was united with his wife Lucy Asbell in Marriage On October 17th 1981 in Stinett, TX. He later relocated to Lyons, Kansas in 1993. He was a roustabout and a jack of all trades, working in plumbing, as a landlord, and many other fields.
He loved taking care of his grandchildren and spending quality time with his family. He enjoyed playing video games and card games, going to casinos, and playing bingo. When he wasn’t being a practical joker, he was happy with his quiet and peaceful ranch-like lifestyle. He loved music and shared his enjoyment with everyone around him.
He is survived by his daughters Eva Padilla Sifuentes, Dina Josaveth Padilla Sifuentes, Vanessa Padilla, and his Son, Joshua Padilla; brother Merejildo Jr. (Danny) Padilla; sisters Elvia (Becky) Padilla, Gloria Guzman, Debbie Porras and Brenda Padilla; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Johnny, Robert, Lee Roy, Sylvia; grandson Jose Pedro Perez Padilla; and his beloved wife Lucy Padilla.
Memorial Service: 2:00 pm, Friday, June 9th, 2023 at Smith Family Mortuary Chapel 1415 N. Rock Rd. Derby, Kansas 67037.
