Obituary for Samantha Lee Russell
Samantha L. Russell, 22, of Derby, died Tuesday, July 6, 2021, after a tragic automobile accident. She was born December 25, 1998, in the City of Sacile, Italy, the daughter of Rogelio (Roger) and Lischen Castorena.
Samantha graduated from High School in Goldsboro, North Carolina with the class of 2017. On November 8, 2019 she was united in marriage to Brandon Russell. She was employed as a Realtor with the JPAR group in Derby. Samantha was an excited expectant mother-to-be to a beautiful baby boy. She enjoyed cooking, baking, making jewelry and other crafts. She always had a project in work and was extremely creative in her endeavors. Samantha was a wonderful loving wife who was beyond excited to become a mother. She was extremely happy in life with her family, career, and anxiously awaited the arrival of baby Mac. Samantha loved everyone big, with her whole heart.
Samantha is described by her family as funny, hardworking, goal driven, and extremely smart with a caregiving spirit. She was enthusiastic about everything she did. She always had a positive attitude, inspiring confidence, and dedication in all she aspired to be. Her way to help and comfort those in need was a valuable trait everyone welcomed.
Samantha is survived by her husband Brandon Russell, son Mac, parents Roger and Lischen, brother, Mitchell (Anna) Castorena, sister, Lydia Castorena; maternal grandparents Jack and Elizabeth Bohne of Tucson, Arizona; Brandon’s parents John and Kimberly Russell of Pikeville, N.C. sister’s-in-law Ashley (Jake) Cummings and Anna Russell, as well as special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by grandparents Raul and Romelia Castorena of Del Rio, Texas.
