Obituary for Jean Kay Myers

Myers, Jean Kay 76, loving wife, mother, sister, grandma and great-grandma, passed away Thursday, May 3rd, 2018. She was born April 22nd, 1942, to Billy and Katherine Smith in Burlington, KS. Jean and Henry were married July 23rd, 1959, and had two children. She loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time in her flower beds. Jean loved traveling with Henry, and took the kids, grandkids, and extras, to lakes all over the USA. They were also members and camp directors for several years with the National Camper and Hiker Association. She was a huge Royals fan, and would attend games with her headphones on. She loved to bowl, and she loved Elvis. She lead girl scouts, cub scouts, was a housewife, ran a daycare, and retired as a sales secretary from Scholfield Honda. Jean made friends wherever she went, later in life she got involved in the “Catfish Babes” fishing club at their lake in S. Texas.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Katherine Smith; daughter, Sondra Fortine; son, Steve Myers; granddaughter, Jamie Myers; brother, Billy Smith.



Jean is survived by her spouse Henry Myers; grandchildren, Steve Fortine, Bradley Myers, Brandon Myers, and Tiffany Richter; great grandchildren, Myles Fortine and Mason Fortine; brother, Bob (Bertie) Smith.



Memorial Service: 2:00pm, Monday, May 14th, 2018 at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Road, Derby, KS 67037.
