Obituary for Lewis Waid Carpenter

Lewis Waid  Carpenter
Lewis W. Carpenter, 79, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018. He was born April 30, 1938 to Lewis and Opel Carpenter in Ulysses, KS. Lewis retried from the Navy as a Senior Chief Aviation Structural Mechanic after 38 years of service. He then retired from Beechcraft as a Tool License Coordinator after 35+ years. Lewis was a member of the Camping Squares of Kansas, Andover American Legion, and Kiwanas Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra; parents; brothers, Roy Carpenter and Edgar Carpenter; step-daughter, Carol Murphy; and grandson, Ryan Griffin. Lewis is survived by his children, Lewis (Robin) Carpenter, Cahnya (Rodney) Parker, and Conraya (Justin Archer) Carpenter; lady friend, Norma Longar; sisters, Marjorie and Norean; grandchildren, Michelle, Kevin, Angela, Zachary, Tavian, Nathan, Kaydan, and Alyssa; and numerous great-grandchildren. Visitation: Thursday, February 15, 2018, from 1 to 8 pm with family present between 5 and 7 pm. Funeral: 1:00 pm, Friday, February 16, 2018, both at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby, KS 67037. Interment to follow at Belle Plaine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
